AT&T was originally founded as the Bell Telephone Company in 1885, following Alexander Bell’s patenting of the telephone. Then, AT&T had a monopoly over the phone service industry until 1982. AT&T also began to grow and expand within the United States and Latin America. Now, AT&T trades on the New York Stock Exchange and has offices in 190 countries.
