A Day in the Life

Petroleum Engineers are in charge of extracting the energy we use in our everyday lives. They manage the location of natural gas and oil deposits underground and determine if extraction would be economically worth it.

There are four different types of Petroleum Engineers: Reservoir Engineers, Drilling and Completion Engineers, Production Engineers, and Subsurface Engineers. Some of the tasks that Petroleum Engineers complete are finding the oil, conducting studies on gas and oil reservoirs, implementing drilling strategies, and separate oil, gas, and water.
