Travelers
Travelers was founded in 1864 by James Batterson and began selling life insurance in 1865. In 1993, Travelers was acquired by the Primerica conglomerate and shifted their focus to casualty and property insurance. Travelers then underwent a period of immense change and engaged in mergers with a variety of companies. Now, Travelers has field offices in every state in the United States and has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since 2009.
