Segments in the company include retail, group and specialty, healthcare services, and individual commercial. They provide Medicare Advantage plans and prescription drug coverage to around 6 million members in the US, and administers managed care plans for other government programs. Humana covers more than 20 million members in the United States.

History of

Humana

Founded as a nursing home company in 1961, and it became the largest nursing home company by 1968 before being sold to purchase hospitals. In 1974, the corporate name was changed to Humana, and in the 1980s was the world’s largest hospital company. In the 90s, Humana executives spun off hospital operations from health insurance operations and created Galen Health Care, eventually selling the hospitals. Since then, it has partnered with many companies to educate and promote healthy lifestyles, and continues to be one of the largest names in health care.

Internship Program

Humana offers 10-12 week Summer Internships in a variety of departments: including Actuarial, Technology, Finance, and Cyber Security. Students participating in an internship at Humana are placed on a professional team and get to work on projects and reports that help build their analytical skills. Additionally, interns are exposed to a range of networking and professional development opportunities.

Interview Process

The recruitment process is from September to October for summer internships the following year. Some internships are available year round.

1. Phone or Video Interview with a Recruiter

For the initial interview, this will be on either the phone or video call with a recruiter where you will go over your background, experience, and Humana.

2. Interview with a Hiring Manager

This interview will be with a Hiring Manager where they will go over your skills and experience.
