Charles Schwab
In 1963, Chuck Schwab and two other partners launched Investment Indicator, an investment advisory newsletter. In 1975, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission allowed for negotiated commission rates and Schwab set up a stock brokerage. In September 1975, Schwab opened its first branch in Sacramento, CA and began to offer discount brokerage services. From this point forward, the company continued to grow and acquire new business, allowing them to grow into the financial services powerhouse that they are today.
